About - Plein Air or indoors

Nicolette Nijensohn is an artist and visual arts educator from the South of France who resides in Chicago, Illinois.  She earned an Arts Baccalauréat from the Académie de Nice, France; an International Law certification from the Universita` Statale di Milano, Italy as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Child Development from UW-Madison Wisconsin, a Master of Arts in Arts Education M.A.A.E from The School of the Art Institute, and an Expressive Arts certification from the Creative Arts Therapy Center.

 

Nicolette has been teaching art programs for over 15 years at many local Chicago schools, assisted Art History prof. Lisa Zaher at The School of the Art Institute, Little Linguists (now RISE Education), Old St. Mary School (K-8), Unicoi Art Studio, Right At School Nettelhorst Elementary, Francis W. Parker, Alexander G. Bell, and Prescott Elementary. One of her strengths is teaching art in a non-prescriptive way integrating a STEAM curriculum for circular knowledge dedicated to students of all abilities.

 

Her artworks were featured and exhibited at the Lakeview Arts Festival, Argentina Medical Foundation, Temple Sholom, The Latin School of Chicago, Lynn Sage Breast Cancer Foundation Tickled Pink, Greenleaf Art Center, OxBow School of Art, Art In Space a Terrain Exhibition, Lillstreet Art Gallery as well as in private collections in Italy, France, UK, Illinois, California and Florida.

 

Nicolette is an active member of the Illinois Art Education Association, the Illinois History Collaborative and of the National Organization for Arts in Health N.O.A.H.
